Founder & CEO

Alastair Holberton

Alastair founded Interchange in 1990 after experience in foreign exchange and natural resources, notably ending De Beers’ offshore diamond monopoly in Namibia. He grew Interchange through organic expansion and debt-free acquisitions from American Express, Travelex, and Western Union. Committed to Africa, he funds maternal health in Sierra Leone. He holds a B. Economics from the Australian National University, which awarded him an Honorary Doctorate and Hall of Fame recognition. He is married with four children.
